openoffice and ODF ISOlol

Hi.

I usually code stuff, but sometimes I have to write up presentations as well. So I created a presentation in openoffice impress and all looked nice and smooth. Set background picture for all slides, yeah, no problem. Saved it in “ODF presentation” format and felt I was done.

Later when I reopened it, only the first slide in my presentation had a background picture. The others had the default design.

I scratched my head, thought “this was silly”, then I tried to see if after all this complaints about OOXML being so hard to implement correctly and such a silly format, that there is irony in the world.

So I saved the presentation in powerpoint format (still using openoffice impress though), and when I reopened it, it was correct. No silly errors like only the first slide having the background picture.

In conclusion; ODF camp shouldn’t shout about their format when openoffice can’t even implement it correctly. I mean saving a document and loading it, and it’s not the same document as the one I saved. that’s just silly.

Anyhow, we develop games here at Tumbleweed Interactive, not office software, so we don’t really care _that_ much about this whole debate; I just wanted to comment on this funny bug I had with openoffice.
