an Introduction of the magnificent Tor Jonas
It’s time for another team member introduction. This time, it’s Tor Jonas’ turn, or as we often call him for shorts, TJ.
TJ is originally from the village called Gjøvik, a small cosy place by the water, but has now moved across the pond to the big city Hamar.
At work, he is working on the gameplay implementation of Umami, our PSN title which we’ll show you more of in the coming weeks. Tj has the invaluable skill that whatever gameplay feature you throw at him, he gets implemented, in a short timeframe.
So, let’s see what TJ had to say when I met him for some questions at the water cooler.
- Working on the gameplay of Umami, what has proved to be the most challanging feature?
TJ: Well, to get the player mechanic to work properly has been a real challenge. To make the player feel that Umami is moving in the right way is a much harder task than one could imagine.
-How was it, getting your hands dirty with the PS3 compared to pc development, and what engine solution are you using?
TJ:the PS3 is really powerfull, but it is a lot harder to code effective programs on this platform. We are coding our own game engine, but the graphics engine is Sony’s PhyreEngine.
-And finally, there’s a rumour around the office that you are in better shape than most, how does it feel to be able to outrun almost any other game developer in a running duel?
TJ:Hehe, actually, it feels great. But I’m probably training a lot more than an average game developer as well.
And that concludes our introductionary piece on TJ.
