Tumbleweed Interactive presentation at Dataforeningen

Last Thursday Tumbleweed Interactive attended “Game On” in Oslo, the second meeting in a new gaming related interest group within Dataforeningen (roughly translated to The Computer Association).

Above is picture of Håvard and I checking out Break a Leg, a cool student project. Håvard is on the far right, while I’m the third one from the right. Thanks to www.spillutvikling.org for the picture!

We held a short presentation of the company, talked a bit about indie game development, and Håvard had a short opinion piece on stories in games. After the talk was over we met a lot of interesting people, and we had a wonderful time.

Thanks to all the people who said they enjoyed the talk! We love talking about games, and we believe the gaming medium is able to convey incredible things to gamers. If we seem opinionated and “artsy” it is because we want people to explore what is possible to do with computer games. We don’t just see games as entertainment, but as a way of communicating ideas to the player. The best games out there communicate something more than just the game mechanics.

Eirik Newth, a writer, astrophysicist and self-proclaimed geek, was the other presenter at the event. His views on how social media and advanced mobile phones will change the way games are played were really interesting.

We’ll definitely attend Game On as often as we can, we had a great time and met lots of people who have both a personal and professional interest in computer games.
